SJS Mahavidyalaya, Kurtha Arwal, Bihar Mahavidyalaya was established in 1971. This Mahavidyalaya is located in a serene, rural, and isolated environment surrounded by the Punpun River, which flows by on both sides. This Mahavidyalaya has 11 acres, 33 decimals of land, and has a network of enormous buildings, has a unique character as the Arwal district's legacy. SJS Mahavidyalaya attracts students from far and wide to study here.

Since this Mahavidyalaya was founded in 1971, however it was bind up due to the demise Amar Sahid Jagdeo Prasad. Once again in 1982, because to the locals passion for knowledge, the Mahavidyalaya was restructured. Due to the persistent efforts of the Mahavidyalaya’s founding president “Shiv Sharan Singh” from Sachhai Village and founding secretary “Ramanand Mehta” of Khatanga village, this Mahavidyalaya is regarded as one of the best Mahavidyalaya in this district.

In 1985, former Chief Minister of Bihar “Shree Karpuri Thakur” and former Minister “Shree Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav” along with former Shoshit Samaj Dal National President “Shri Ram Swaroop Verma”, inaugurated this Mahavidyalaya. Subsequently, former Bihar Minister “Mrs. Suchitra Sinha” and former Union Minister “Shri Nagmani” provided invaluable assistance for the growth of this Mahavidyalaya. The Mahavidyalaya has developed to greater heights because to the unwavering efforts of “Dr. Ram Uday Narayan” the former principal.Bihar, India's Sahid Jagdeo Smarak Mahavidyalaya is a regional leader in both community development and educational advancement. The Mahavidyalaya was founded with the goal of advancing higher education and aiding in the intellectual and socioeconomic development of the community. Over time, it has developed into a prominent establishment in the area.
